Under 14 Winners

Congratulations to our U14 football team & mentors on their wonderful victory against The Nire in the Division 2 Plate Final.

U16 & minor football championships are well underway at present, so hopefully we will see some more silverware.

Congrats Ned & Daniel

Congratulations to Ned Moore & Daniel O’Neill, CNG players & Ardscoil na Mara students, who are 1 in 5 schools selected as finalists in the National Irish Angus Schools Competition.

Over the next 18 months, Dan and Ned will be responsible for rearing their calves as part of the competition, while also carrying out a research project focused on reducing carbon emissions in beef production through genomics and sustainable farming practices.

Defibrillator

A big thank you to Casey Engineering for purchasing a defibrillator, which is positioned on the tractor shed at the bottom of the main pitch, and to Tomas Casey, who installed it.

We now have 2 defibrillators, the other being outside the front door of the centre, and we also have a mobile one that is at each of our training sessions and games.

Hopefully, we will never have to use any of these, but they are vital to have in the community.

Social Walking

Walking Track

The walking track is open Monday to Sunday from 6am to 10pm, and it is free to everyone.

Please note that the lights on the track are operated using a photocell, so they are set to come on automatically in the morning from 6am to 8am, and in the evening they will adjust to come on as it gets dark and go off automatically at 10pm.

From a health & safety perspective, parents are asked to supervise their children on the track, especially if there is a match or training going on.

Also, dog walkers are asked to keep their pet on a lead & to pick up any dog poo & bring it home for disposal. Please DO NOT put it in the waste bins that are located around the grounds.

Access to the track is via the main gate at the Centre, the entrance at the dressing rooms, or on the Ardnahoe side via the new gate. There is no parking at the Ardnahoe side.

We encourage everyone in the community to make use of this new flood-lit facility.

Dunhill Squash Club

Women’s Social Squash Night

We’re starting a new Women’s Social Squash Night every Thursday from 1st October at 7:30pm.

It’s open to both members and non-members, and to all levels, including complete beginners.

The idea is to keep it relaxed, social and fun, with some coaching available to help people learn the basics and build confidence.

If you have any friends or family who might be interested in giving squash a try, please feel free to share this with them.

For anyone who has never played before, we’ll have rackets and balls available each night, so there’s no need to buy any equipment. All they’ll need is a pair of non-marking runners.

Just bring along €5 to cover the lights.

Fenor GAA

Footballers Progress

Here’s a quick recap of Fenor’s recent results from the Eastern Intermediate Football Championship group phase, with a place in the knockouts now secured.

De La Salle (2-10 to 1-8)

Having beaten Kilmac’ in their opening game, Fenor secured their second championship win against De La Salle at Kill, thanks to a dominant second-half performance. Leading 0-6 to 0-3 at half-time, a 2-3 scoring burst within nine minutes of the restart put the result beyond doubt, powered by goals from Iarla Hennessy and John Flynn.

Bonmahon (3-17 to 0-11)

At Dunhill, Fenor overcame a wasteful opening period to put Bonmahon to the sword.

Holding a narrow 1-6 to 0-8 lead at the break after an early Sean Mackey goal, Fenor surged clear in the second half. Further goals from Mikey Nicholls and substitute Charlie Binions capped a dominant display.

Newtown (0-9 to 1-11)

Next time out, Fenor suffered a setback at Butlerstown, slumping to a five-point defeat (1-11 to 0-9) against Newtown. Despite solid build-up play, poor shooting efficiency proved costly.

Kill (0-20 to 2-5)

We bounced back in Dunhill last Saturday to seal an Eastern semi-final spot. Despite conceding two first-half black cards and two goals, key saves from goalkeeper Padraic O’Leary kept Kill at bay. Led by birthday boy Mikey Nicholls, John Flynn and the superb Sean Mackey, Fenor hit their stride after the break to close out a comfortable victory.

Date For Diaries

The inaugural Kevin Burns Memorial Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, 29th November in Fenor.

Fenor Road Bowling Club

Competition

Congratulations to Padraic O’Leary, who reached the finals of the Nov E in Clashmore on Sunday against Conna’s Paul O’Connell. Padraic made hard work of this score, coming from behind to take it in the last few shots.

Gene Hourihan bowed out of the Vintage at the semifinal stage after a fantastic run and did himself no disservice against a stronger opponent in Ballincurrig, the home of the King & Queen Festival, where thousands descend for a 3-day event in September to watch the best of the best battle it out from 4 countries.

Anna Power met up with Senior Bowler Armagh’s Thomas Mackle, who played in Fenor for an exhibition score 14 years ago, with Jimmy Flynn & Liam Power also in attendance with her.

Munster Rugby

For a small area, Dunhill is punching above its weight in rugby. Well done to Dunhill players Daniel Groves and Oscar Flanagan, who both lined out for Munster U19s against Rockwell College in Cashel.

Their selection reflects the continued development of young players within Waterpark RFC and the pathway being created from underage rugby into the adult section.

Well done to Daniel, Oscar, their parents and coaches.

Join Us For Winter Training

Our ever-popular Winter Training Sessions resume the week beginning October 12th.

Under the lights, one evening a week for six weeks, it’s something the children look forward to every year.

We love welcoming new faces, and it’s also a great introduction for children who haven’t played before.

Father & Son Help Secure Cup Success

Under the bright lights of Ozier Park, Seaview Celtic, under the guidance of John ‘Ranieri’ Flynn, wrote another memorable chapter in the club’s history, edging out a strong and physical Piltown AFC side 2–1 to lift the Philip O’Keefe 3rd Division Cup.

It was a final worthy of the occasion, featuring everything you would expect from a cup decider — outstanding goalkeeping, resolute defending, a penalty, end-to-end football, 10 minutes of added time and, ultimately, a dramatic late winner.

Following a fiercely contested opening half, Seaview finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute. And it was a moment that will live long in the memory.

Alan Drohan finished after being set up by his son Adam, sparking jubilant celebrations among the Seaview players and supporters.

There was an added poignancy to the goal. Alan is not only Seaview Celtic chairman, but also the club’s longest-serving player, making the father-and-son combination all the more fitting on such a significant occasion.

Piltown responded strongly from the restart and deserves enormous credit for the way they pushed Seaview back in search of an equaliser. They came agonisingly close, only to be denied by a sensational save from Donal, who produced a genuine contender for save of the season to preserve Seaview’s advantage.

The pressure eventually told, however, when Piltown were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute, which they converted to bring the contest level at 1–1.

With the game seemingly heading towards another 30 minutes of extra time, Seaview refused to settle.

In the 95th minute, a swift move from back to front created the opening. Ned Moore provided the decisive assist, finding Adam Drohan, who calmly finished to put Seaview back in front, sparking pandemonium on the bench, pitch and in the stands.

Father scores the opener. Son scores the injury-time winner. You simply couldn’t write it. The Drohan Final. 🏆

The final whistle sparked scenes of celebration as Seaview secured another piece of silverware, with captain Martin Harney proudly lifting the Philip O’Keefe Cup. This victory was built on much more than just the two goals. The collective defending, work rate, resilience and togetherness throughout the evening and this tough cup run were exceptional from every member of the squad.

A special mention must also go to the club’s Young Blues — Ollie, Luke, Nathan, Nina and Lucy — who arrived armed with flags and banners and provided a soundtrack of never-ending chants from the first whistle to the last.

Their support was particularly memorable at half-time, as they waited outside the dressing room to cheer the players back onto the pitch. Moments like that capture exactly what Seaview Celtic is about — community, belonging and inspiring the next generation.

New Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Season

September saw the return of the Schoolboy and Schoolgirl leagues. The 2026/27 season sees Seaview represented by no fewer than 13 teams, ranging from our youngest players in our Under 9 and Under 10 teams up to our Under 16s. So far, we have seen 24 games featuring more than 150 players as our underage section continues to see fantastic growth.

While our Schoolboy and Schoolgirl seasons are back in full swing, the next generation of Seaview Celtic stars are already honing their skills in our Academies.

Monster Camogie Blitz

On Saturday the 19th of September, we hosted the U8 & U10 Monster Camogie Blitz in Dunhill GAA. With over 32 teams competing, we saw over 96 games played over the day.

Well done to our U8 and U10 players and to all the teams who travelled to take part.

Great to see the girls out on the pitch, putting their skills into practice, enjoying the games and having lots of fun along the way.

A big thank you to Dunhill GAA for use of the grounds and a huge well done to all the St Anne’s coaches and helpers who organised such a fantastic day of camogie for all our future camogie stars.

Thanks also to all those who helped with traffic management, baked delicious cakes for the cake sale, and Carmel and Eugene Dunphy for the use of their field for parking.

Under 12 Football

The St Anne’s U12 Gaelic Football Team took on Gaultier B in the Group 3 Festival of Football Finals in Lemybrien on Saturday, the 12th of September.

A super team performance from all the U12 girls saw them claim a well-deserved victory on the day.

Well done to all the girls and to mentors PJ McGrath, Leah McGrath, Ger Murphy and Abby Murphy.

👀 Word around Boatstrand is… the skeletons and some of their witch friends are spending their midterm break in the Magical Village! 💀✨

That means we are going to need EXTRA HELP this year to make sure the sea monsters don’t spoil their holiday! 🦴🏖️🌊

Appeal For Your Help

Following an accident last week with a deer crossing the Ballydermody/Bog Road we urge caution when driving on the L4013 especially at dark when a significant number of deer cross over from the forest.

Serious damage was caused to the vehicle.

Be alert as they jump out in front of traffic.

Local Break In Attempts

A car was broken into outside a house in Ballyphilip last weekend. On the same night, the thieves made a second attempt on a car in Clune/Ballinaclough area.

BE VIGILANT and report any suspicious activity to An Garda Síochána Tramore or Kilmacthomas.

80th Anniversary

Dunhill National School is marking its 80th anniversary on Sunday, October 11th, and everyone is invited to join the celebration.

The day begins with a celebration mass in Dunhill Church at 12:00 noon, followed by presentations, a photo display of the school through the years, and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque. Refreshments will be served in the Community Hall.

Past and present pupils, staff, families, friends and neighbours, as well as those new to our community, are warmly welcome to come along and share in this milestone.

A very warm Dunhill NS welcome to our 14 new Junior Infants who recently started their school journey with us! 💛

We hope you’re all settling in well, making lots of new friends and enjoying your first weeks at school.

Under 10 Boys Football

A huge well done to our U-10 boys football team who did so well at the Cumann na mBunscoil Schools U-10 Blitz in Dunhill GAA in recent weeks. 🏐🌟

A great day for the boys and a fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Dunhill Tidy Towns

We finally sourced a water trough to complement the old water pump recently installed in the village. Many thanks to Eddie Murphy for sourcing it and to him and Martin Murray for installing it.

We have been in consultation with Waterford Council, and they have agreed to support the installation of screening for the village recycling bins.

Job Notices

Fenor National School is seeking a kind, dependable person to share the role of Bus Escort, helping pupils from the school's Autism Class travel safely to and from school each day.

• What's involved: Travelling with the children on the school bus and looking after their safety, comfort and wellbeing along the way.

• Schedule: A job-share arrangement, working three days one week and two days the next, on a rotating basis.

• Morning run: Collections start at 7.30am, arriving back at school around 9.00am.

• Afternoon run: Departs at 2.00pm, finishing up at approximately 3.15pm.

• Who they're looking for: Someone patient, calm and caring. An understanding of autism, or previous experience supporting children with additional needs, would be a plus.

• Vetting: Successful applicants will need to complete Garda vetting.
